30 Lakes in 30 Blog Posts - Lake Six!

Lake Sharing. . .

Yes, we surrender and admit defeat.  We can't get it together enough to post a new lake each day. Yet, we refuse to give up completely.  Hence the new name of this post.
30 Lakes in 30 Days is now known as 30 Lakes in 30 Blog Posts.  :-)

If you follow us here, you know this series is a result of posts on our facebook page.  Our fans, followers and family posting photos of their favorite lake.  Their happy place.

Today, is no different - we were reminded of one of our personal favorites by a recent post by a friend over the July 4th Holiday.  Thanks Vicki for sharing your photos!

Payette Lake, Idaho
Payette Lake is situated in the Bitterroot Mountain Range (foothills to the Rockies) just 100 short and picturesque miles from Boise, Idaho.  Located on the shores of Payette Lake is the small, quaint mountain resort town of McCall, Idaho.  A local community of 2500 +/- which swells to over 25,000 during the summer thanks to a healthy second home community and visitors from all over the world.  Four Seasons of spectacular scenery and outdoor living at it's finest.

Lake Sharing. . .

Day Five in our facebook series of lake sharing.
Today we circle around to Texas and take a look see at Lake Nacagdoches

Kay writes:  Perfect ending to the day @Lake Nacagdoches.  And by the looks of this photo who could argue?

Located on Loco Bayou, 10 miles west of Nacogdoches, Texas (some say is the oldest city in Texas) this 2,200 acre lake offers a great place to catch largemouth bass, crappie and sunfish.  And the area offers many amenities for those looking for a charming weekend get-away.

Local Tours
Outdoor Recreation including several parks for Disc Golf!

Shopping the quaint downtown

Nacagdoches hosts the Annual Blueberry Festival on the second

Random Tidbit:  Don Henley was raised in the area and attended Stephen F Austin State University a couple of years prior to moving to California where he became a member of Linda Ronstadt's backup band before eventually forming The Eagles.

30 Lakes in 30 Days - Day Four

Lake Sharing . . .

Well, we didn't say 30 Lakes in 30 consecutive days.  (thank goodness).

Today, we catch up and return to our mission of sharing the amazing photos and lakes that are loved by our facebook fans and family.

We must start this post by thanking Lynn Webb for sharing the photos . . especially of her nephew Jack fishing on his birthday and catching a prize catfish!
Today's feature lake:

Boone Lake, Tennessee
Named after. . . you guessed it!  Daniel Boone, one of the great American Explorers of our time.

This is Jack and his Aunt tells us he loves to fish!

This is Jack on his Birthday - catching a big 'ol catfish!
This is what Lake Life is ALL ABOUT!

Boone Reservoir was named for the frontiersman Daniel Boone, who played a vital role in the history of the area. Daniel Boone was a pioneer who cut a trail through the wilderness, opening up a gateway to the West. For more information on Boone Lake and the surrounding area and amenities check out Boone Lake Info Website

Looks like Tennessee has more to offer than country music after all.

Happy Tuesday, Y'all!

30 Lakes in 30 Days - Day Three

Lake Sharing. . .

Day Three of our facebook lake sharing series is compliments of Shelli Jorkos who shared two photos from July 4th at Marble Lake.

Marble Lake, Quincy, Michigan
Marble Lake is 17 miles long and approximately 780 acres (over 3,500 acres in the entire chain).  One of the lakes in the Marble Chain of Lakes.

Wanting to know more about this charming lake community we snooped online and found Cottonwood Resort - a family owned (for over 40 years) Campground  with nearly 100 campsites and five cottages, beautiful sandy beach for swimming and a store that features hand-dipped ice cream!

And from the photos posted on their site - it would appear these folks know how to relax and have fun!

Is that a "shot-ski" we see

Yes, it would appear  to be just that.  A 4-person shot ski

All photos in this section were pulled from the Luau Album
See anyone you know?

Everyone's so happy

Almost everyone. . .

This photo deserves a snappy caption

See ya tomorrow!

PS - keep sharing your photos with us on our facebook page so we can continue to share with
the WORLD!

30 Lakes in 30 Days - Day Two

Lake Sharing. . .

Earlier this week we casually mentioned on our facebook page that we would love to see photos from fans introducing us to their favorite lake.  The lake they love so much.

Within minutes we were getting so many fantastic photos we decided we needed to share with the world!

Today's post compliments of Ashley Marcin Eaton

Barren River Lake located in Lucas, Kentucky
Over 10,000 acre lake surrounded by rolling, tree covered hills.

Apparently the geese love it there too

Upon further snooping we found there are several cabins, lodges and parks to enjoy should you decide to check it out for yourself.  Along with at least one Marina with boat and jet ski rentals, The Barren River Lake State Park Marina.  Click HERE to check them out.

For information on lodging and camping - check out the Kentucky State Parks site

What a wonderful photo escape - hope you enjoy!

30 Lakes in 30 Days? We'll give it a shot!

Lake Sharing. . .

We asked our faithful facebook fans to post photos of their lake this week.  Boy!  Was that ever a good idea.  Such beauty and so fun to learn about the area that you love most.

Our goal here is to share 30 lakes over the next 30 days.
Remember - it's a goal.  :-)

First up.

Tennessee River/Wheeler Lake in the state of Alabama
shared by Greta Mitchell

WOW - 60 miles long!

Wiki Sez:
Wheeler Lake is located in the northern part of the United States state of Alabama, between Rogersville and Huntsville. Created by Wheeler Dam along the Tennessee River, it stretches 60 miles (96.5 km) from Wheeler Dam to Guntersville Dam. It is Alabama's second largest lake at 67,100 acres (272 km²).
Wheeler Lake is a major recreation and tourist center, attracting about four million visits a year. Along with camping, boating, and fishing, visitors enjoy the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge several miles upstream from the dam.
The lake and dam are named for General Joseph "Joe" Wheeler.
