No Bake Mississippi Mud Pie with Oreo Crust/Topping
Yesterday, we hosted the local real estate community during our monthly
3rd Thursday Locals Social at The Boatique in Log Cabin.
We are starting to get a reputation for serving delicious desserts so much so, even our customers are sharing their favorite family recipes and asking that we make and serve them at our events! This is so special for a couple of reasons:
- It saves us from pre-event recipe testing and tasting. You can tell a good recipe simply by looking at the recipe card or paper it's been written on. Worn or aged paper, stains, tears and folds all add to the vetting process.
- It's a compliment when a recipe is shared. Makes us feel like family and we love that!
And yes, Lanette and Christy were correct, everyone loved the Mississippi Mud Pie and asked for the recipe. So here it is, you'll want to make this - soon.
Grocery List:
One (1) Package of Oreo Cookies (regular - do not buy double stuff, they have too much filling)
1/4 cup butter, melted
Two (2) Small Packages of Instant Chocolate Pudding
Two (2) 8 oz containers of Cool Whip - thawed
One (1) brick of Philadelphia Cream Cheese - soften
Three (3) cups of Milk
Yes, add the WHOLE cookie to the processor |
This is what the cookies will look like when ground properly |
Pour crumb mixture into serving vessel (pie plate, cake pan, custard cups, whatever) |
FIRST STEP:
Open Oreos
Taste a cookie to insure freshness. If unable to make determination, taste another.
Place 24 whole Oreo cookies in your food processor
turn on and let the cookies turn into crumbs. They will look like coffee grounds when ready to use.
Once ground, with blades turning add melted butter just until mixed into the cookie crumbs.
Remove blade and fold with spatula to insure butter is mixed in well.
Set aside 1/8 cup for garnish
Pour remaining cookie mixture into serving vessel, press until firm and chill for one hour.
NEXT STEP:
Using a mixer
Mix one cup of the thawed cool whip with the soften cream cheese. Whip until smooth
pour over the chilled crust and spread evenly with spatula.
NEXT:
Mix 3 cups of cold milk with 2 packages of instant chocolate pudding, whip 2 minutes until frothy and pour over cream cheese layer and spread evenly.
FINAL STEP: Use remaining cool whip - spread desired amount over chocolate pudding and top with remaining oreo cookie crumbs. (we like to use a healthy amount of topping - don't be stingy here)
Chill for an hour before serving. Enjoy!

NOTE: Because, we were serving in the store we used paper serving cups
which did add to the labor. Don't let that scare you - the recipe is
intended to be made in a cake or pie plate
and served family style.
