Pack a bag and jump in the car. . .

If Memorial Day Weekend conjures up memories of childhood road trips with the fam which then develop into a hankering for an adult version then Southern Living magazine has just the thing to inspire you to take action!  One pass through this magazine and we're confident you'll be ready to pack your bags, gas up the car and grab the gamin.

This 96-page special edition is available on news stands and in book stores now through August 10th and it's filled beautiful photography and details relating to each destination written to make us feel as though we've just received a personal invitation.  Each feature makes us dream about the All American Family Road Trip.  (sans the fighting in the back seat with the brothers).

A FEW highlights just to wet your whistle:

Chapter ONE starts with a city:
  • Two Coasts, One Day from Miami to Naples
  • The Swamp Just Up the Road from Charleston to Harleyville
  • Your Own Antiques Road Show from Baltimore to Paris, Virginia
  • Chug from Chattanooga from Chattanooga to Mentone, Alabama
Our Chapter One favorite Homestead Heritage Crafts Village.
Drive from Dallas to Waco:

Chapter TWO is all about Eating your way through the south - so many mouth watering stories, this  one story did catch our sweet tooth and might be the most pursuasive.  Kalache Anyone?  We suggest yoga pants and a long tunic top for this trip.  EZ on the waist with room to "move"...

Drive LaGrange to Ellinger, Ellinger to Brenham, Brenham to Washington, Washington to Chappel Hill and Chappel Hill to Houston.  Whew!

Chapter THREE Just Plane Pretty

Chapter FOUR Going Coastal - the beloved beach destinations and our FAVORITE was included!

Drive Twin Bana Beaches  Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama.
Alternate Route:  Drive Dallas to Shreveport driving through LA to Mississippi to Alabama (Mobile is approx 10 hours from Dallas - we know this from personal experience).  From Mobile to Pensacola to Gulf Shores.  The Best!

Chapter FIVE Nothing Else Like It (this is where we come in).
Nothing Else Like it is a chapter of wonderment.  Features include Mermaid Ballet, Tamale Trails and yes, our pride and joy:  First Monday Trade Days, Canton Texas!  Turn to page 74 and read all about us and Southern Living's own Tips & Tactics for shopping First Monday.

Enjoy your weekend - we hope it includes at least one Scenic Drive!
